FAQs

Can I use my insurance?

We are a private pay practice. This allows you to have 1:1 treatment with your physical therapist the entire time, without interruption. Ultimately this means quicker recovery with fewer visits, while getting the personalized care and attention you deserve. We accept HSA/FSA cards (tax-free PT!). Many insurances have the option of submitting a claim for reimbursement.  If you choose to do this, we are happy to provide you with a detailed invoice of your services.

Is there really treatment for my pelvic floor?

YES! Despite this being a little known area of PT, we have over 20 years of expertise treating these issues and are active advocates for both women and men becoming aware of this important treatment option. Although pelvic floor symptoms such as incontinence, pain, and prolapse are common, they are not normal. Research supports pelvic PT and symptom resolution is attainable with proper care.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

Many of our clients have seen multiple providers and are seeking a different plan of care. You can expect to be listened to as you take the time and space needed to explain your concerns and goals. Then an orthopedic exam will be done to test posture, spinal/pelvic alignment, strength and flexibility. Depending on your condition, you may or may not receive a pelvic exam. This is completely up to you. Based on our findings, we will develop a treatment plan specific to you.

Will I have exercises to do at home?

Yes. A cornerstone to our approach is empowering you with the tools to supplement your treatments at home. Your program will be tailored just for you. It may include exercises, self scar massage, stretching, relaxation techniques, or reading materials. In addition to written handouts, you will receive links to videos and other resources to reinforce the things we go over in the clinic.

Should I still come in if I’m on my period?

Yes. We will make adjustments to your treatment plan if needed. If you are having increased pain, this is often the perfect time to receive treatment, evaluate your body when in pain, and show you ways to alleviate symptoms.

How many sessions do I need?

It depends on many factors. Variables determining frequency and duration of treatment include chronic vs acute issue, severity, complexity, number of issues or body regions, and your personal preference. Together we will develop the right plan for you.

Can I get treatment for any type of injury, not just pelvic floor?

Absolutely. While our niche is pelvic and women’s health, we treat all body parts and are specialists in orthopedic conditions. We are happy to take care of all your physical therapy needs and have 25 years of experience. Basically, if it involves your body we can help.
